Flying to Carol's place

Some day soon this parcel should arrive to your place (I hope you like the contents!)

Another "visitor"

I took some rubbish out to the bin late last night, I looked down at the path and thought "that's a big worm".

I took a closer look this morning and it isn't a worm... it's a baby SNAKE!!!

I am VERY glad that it is dead. It gives me the heebie-geebies just looking at the photo. Judging by the squished neck I am guessing that it was dropped by a bird... lets just hope there aren't any more!

A "teaser" for Carol

Do the fabric and buttons look familiar?

I wonder how I will be using this on your project...

Edited: this is where I learned how to make these cute flowers!

Waifs and Strays

Hmmm, lately I have been attracting "stray" animals.

Late Saturday night (11.10pm to be exact) I was happily vegging out in front of the TV when there was a knock at my door (thoughts of "who the heck would be at my door at this time of the night?" ran through my head), I went to investigate and found 2 teenage girls on my doorstep with a kitten (yes, I thought this was a little odd!) they explained that they were headed down the street for a night out and that the kitten had been following them and they were worried that it would follow them all the way down the street. Soft touch that I am, I agreed to look after the kitten.

Well, I couldn't just put her outside after the girls had left (I was worried that something would happen to her). She was a little sweetie and very friendly and house-trained, so I knew that someone would be missing her.

Sunday morning I went door knocking and found her home quite quickly. Needless to say, her young owner was VERY happy to see her! Here she is (and no, she doesn't have a tail, just a little fluffy stump)

3.51am Tuesday (yes, VERY early in the morning) I was woken by a very excited dog, some clattering and the light in my lounge room coming on.

Don't worry, it wasn't a burglar BUT it was a POSSUM. And one of my dogs REALLY wanted to "play" with said possum (don't worry the possum didn't get hurt, but it did loose some fur).

This is what was left behind after my Dad caught the possum and took it out to the golf course that is across the road from my house...

Yes, I called in the cavalry (my Dad) to catch the possum - I'm just not brave enough!

Oh, and you are wondering how the possum turned on the light? My light switches are on the door frames and the possum had climbed up one of the door frames to escape the dog, and as he was sliding down (walls just don't have much grip!) he flicked on the light. It was a "funniest home videos" moment but I just wasn't fast enough with the camera!

One more birthday goodie....

I have been wanting this book for AGES and I kept telling myself that it was too expensive (around $40 plus postage), recently I found it at Fishpond and it was only $33.94 (including postage!) so I gave in and bought it as a birthday gift to myself. It should be here within a week, I am looking forward to a fun read.

The Simple Woman's Day Book (4)

Ok, so I missed a couple of weeks... but I am trying to get back on track!

Outside My Window...

a dark, still night with a soft breeze blowing. Not cold (18degC at 11pm) . I can hear the neighborhood possum scampering on the fence

I am thinking...

how long is is going to be before the dog hears the possum and insists on going to explore?

I am thankful for...
being here, healthy and whole

From the kitchen...

sorry, no cooking tonight! It's my birthday so I got take-away noodles/veggies/beef and a slice of banana cake

I am wearing...
brown t-shirt and a green/brown patterned skirt

I am creating...

a gift from an "ugly" fat quarter that I was sent. And a couple of postcards for a swap

I am going...
to bed as soon as I post this!

I am reading...
"Living with the Dead" by Kelley Armstrong

I am hoping...
to get some creating done this weekend, I have several commitments at need to be sent in the next couple of weeks

I am hearing...
crickets outside my window, the possum and my dog snooring

Around the house...

the windows are open and I am enjoying the cool autumn evening

One of my favorite things...
cool evenings, (just like this one) the heat of summer is almost over and the chill of winter hasn't arrived

I remember...
the friends I have made over the years and how happy I am that most of them are still in my life

A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week...
sew and create (no painting this week!!)

Here is picture thought I am sharing...

Happy Saint Patrick's Day!

Since it's my birthday today I thought I should make the effort to post and to wish you all a Happy Saint Patrick's Day!

Look what has arrived

It's a parcel from my "ugly swap" partner, Carol...

And I have an idea, I think I know what to turn it into, now off I go to create (which will be a pleasant change from 2 days of painting the outside of the house!)

I won a give away!

Sometimes I enter giveaways on blogs...
I never really thought that I would win...
But, guess what?
I WON!!

Khristina (of Freebies for Crafters and Sew Prim Khris) hosted a giveaway to celebrate 500 followers. I was one of the lucky winners and she was nice enough to let me pick 2 gorgeous fat-quarters from her Oztion Shop.

Look, aren't they beautiful (Khristina even added a couple of charms to my goodie parcel)...

I'm sick of being sick!

I've caught my god-son's cold and I am feeling MISERABLE.

I haven't had a cold in 18 months (a bit of a record for me), so why did I have to get sick on a long weekend??? It started on Thursday and I have been steadily going down hill since then, hopefully I will start to feel better soon.

I had so many plans for my long weekend, so many things to do and jobs to catch up on and instead I have been vegging out on the computer or on the couch watching TV

"Candy Kisses" for me

On Friday another parcel arrived from the USA, it was stuffed FULL of goodies...

Can you believe that Laura from Over the Rainbow managed to stuff so many goodies into one flat rate envelope??

There was a jelly roll, a pack of charm squares, a layer cake AND the co-ordinating panel from "Candy Kisses" by Moda:

Hmmmm, time to stop buying and start sewing!!

The "ugly" has begun

Fiona and Jenny have matched us up and the swapping has begun.

I bundled up my fat quarter and some trims, hopefully my swap partner Carol can do something creative with my little ugly... be warned Carol, she is rebellious and doesn't play well with others!

I am looking forward to getting Carol's parcel in the mail...
